Hi, I’m Ciara Bears

UX researcher and designer by day, and by night, your dog trainer.

My journey with dog training started at age 12 when I joined my local 4-H dog obedience club in Central New York. My dog Mable was sweet and demure, and while a great family dog, never helped me win many trophies. I grew passionate about dog training at this young age as I attended weekly club training sessions and then competed at the local and state levels.

As a young adult, my new dog Fyedka was bouncy but shy. We joined local dog agility classes and as we started to compete in local competitions I not only saw Fyedka’s confidence growing, but also cemented my interest in dog training.

Now as a Brooklynite, I have worked with many dog owners to help them learn more about what their dogs are trying to tell them, and how they can train themselves to provide the clear communication and structure their dog needs. In my spare time I also work with foster dogs who enjoy short stays in my home. I find it incredibly rewarding knowing our training helps them find and keep their future furever homes.

Meet My Fosters

We foster through Louie’s Legacy and love to open our home to pups who are on their journey to their furever homes. Interested in fostering? We’d love to tell you more! Have a foster and need some training help? Inquire about our free training sessions for foster parents.

Bingo

While Bingo only stayed with us for a week, he has a permanent home in our hearts. As a 4-month old Staffordshire Terrier mix, he was smart, playful, and loving. He was a pleasure to train, and our boy Fyedka loved chasing him around in our backyard. Check him out in the 2021 Puppy Bowl!

Sarsaparilla and Snippet

Sassy and Snippet were a couple of happy go-lucky sisters that we had the pleasure of hosting. These big girls loved wrestling each other around the house, learning their stay commands, and morning snuggles in bed.

Barney and Bella

This brother and sister came to us a little shy and submissive. They were curious about everything, but clearly hadn’t been socialized well or learned house manners, yet. Through structure and love they really came out of their shells learning to use stairs, wait for food, sit and lay down, and even house training! An amazing feat for a couple of beagles.
